Advertisement by Dickins & Jones of Regent Street for a full length walking coat, suitable for mourning. The advertisement appeared in Black & White, a commemorative issue of the Illustrated London News to mark the death of Edward VII in 1910. During the Victorian and Edwardian era, mourning protocol was observed with general mourning lasting three months; the first six weeks in black, the latter relieved by other shades such as purple or grey.
