Series of old photographs showing Lascar seamen at work in the stokehole of a passenger liner (centre image) and at rest in the Home for Asiatic Seamen (bottom images). Lascar seamen were employed on many of the coal-fired steam-ships from Britain to India and Australia as they were well suited to the terrific heat from the stokeholes on these voyages. This picture is available as an unframed giclee print, box canvas print or framed print.
